The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But save him who fears 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
