The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah), 160 When their brother Lout (Lot) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
