Whoso blinds himself to the Remembrance of the All-merciful, to him We assign a Satan for comrade; 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 At length, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his evil companion): "Would that between me and thee were the distance of East and West!" Ah! evil is the companion (indeed)! 38 And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment. 39 Can you [Prophet] make the deaf hear? Or guide either the blind or those who are in manifest error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 So hold fast to all that has been revealed to thee: for, behold, thou art on a straight way; 43 It is a (source) of greatness for you and your people. You will surely be questioned about it. 44 Ask those of Our Messengers We sent before thee: Have We appointed, apart from the All-merciful, gods to be served? 45
