The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 Created man, 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
