Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)], then follow you its (the Quran's) recital. 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
