He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
