The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
