Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
