And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 All glory to Him who created pairs of everything that grows from the earth, and out of themselves, and other things they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 37 The sun, too, follows its determined course laid down for it by the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 And the Moon,- We have measured for her mansions (to traverse) till she returns like the old (and withered) lower part of a date-stalk. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 and then created for them other vessels like those on which they ride. 42 If it were Our will, We could drown them: then there would be no helper [to hear their cry], nor could they be saved. 43 except Our mercy which could enable them to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 44 When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). 45 Yet there never comes to them any sign of their Lord's signs, but they turn away from it. 46 and when they are told, "Give to others out of what God has provided for you," those who are bent on denying the truth say to the believers, "Why should we feed those whom God could feed if He wanted? You are clearly in error!" 47 They also say, 'When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak truly?' 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 Then they will not be able to make a will or return to their families. 50
