The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 On an open record. 3 And the House frequented, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
