Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 Thamud, 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
