The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
