Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
