The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
