The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And affirms goodness, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
