Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
