The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord would you then deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
