Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in an exalted garden 22 its fruits are near. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And not known my account! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
