A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
