So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him' 30 Say (O Muhammad SAW to them): "Wait! I am with you, among the waiters!" 31 Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith! 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they are not certain. 36 Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is almost within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Have they, then, any deity other than God? Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from the sky they would say: 'A massed cloud' 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 the day when their guile shall avail them naught, and they shall not be helped. 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise. 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
