[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed. 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
