Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
