The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
