The chiefs of the people who did not believe and denied the life to come, though We had given them good things of this life to enjoy, (said): "He is only a mortal like you. He eats as you do, and drinks as you drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised; 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
