O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 And surely this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty) to Me. 52 But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. 53 (Muhammad), leave them alone in their dark ignorance for an appointed time. 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 We [but want to] make them vie with one another in doing [what they consider] good works? Nay, but they do not perceive [their error]! 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 So that when We seize the affluent among them with affliction, they will begin to implore for help. 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 [and,] impelled by your arrogance, you would talk senselessly far into the night." 67 Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 Or, say they: in him is madness? O Aye he brought them the truth, and most of them to the truth are averse. 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or is it that you ask them a recompense? But the recompense of your Lord is best, and He is the best of those who provide sustenance. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 And verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed deviating far astray from the Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism). 74 ۞ And though We have mercy on them We may remove whatsoever of hurt is with them, surely they would persist in their exorbitance, wandering perplexed. 75 (They are such) that We seized them with chastisement (and yet) they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor do they entreat 76 until We opened upon them the door of a severe chastisement. Then lo, in this state they become utterly despaired of any good. 77
