The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 you pay attention 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
