The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
