Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a lofty Garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
