The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 for the unbelievers, which none may avert, 2 (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent. 3 The angels and Jibreel, ascend towards Him – the punishment will befall on a day which spans fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore patiently endure, in the best manner (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 5 behold, men look upon that [reckoning] as something far away 6 but We see it near. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 And the mountains shall be as tufts of wool 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 though they may be in one another's sight: [for,] everyone who was lost in sin will on that Day but desire to ransom himself from suffering at the price of his own children, 11 And his wife and his brother 12 And his kin that sheltered him. 13 And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. 14 By no means! For the raging flames of the fire 15 That would skin the scalp. 16 It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 And masseth and then hoardeth. 18 ۞ Verily man is formed impatient. 19 When evil toucheth him, he is bewailing. 20 And niggardly when good reaches him;- 21 Except the observers of prayer - 22 Who are at their prayer constant. 23 who, from their wealth is a known right 24 for those that ask and those that are dispossessed, 25 who acknowledge the Day of Judgment, 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - 27 the punishment of their Lord is not something for them to feel secure of, 28 And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts from illegal sexual acts). 29 Are free of blame, 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 who honor their trust and promises, 32 And those who are in their testimonies upright 33 and who observe their prayers. 34 Such will be the honoured ones in the Gardens (of Bliss). 35
