Nay, and by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
