The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
