The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
