The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
