The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
