The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
