Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and couches raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
