۞ AND [there came a time when] We inspired Moses thus: "Go forth with My servants by night: for, behold, you will be pursued!" 52 And Pharaoh sent forth heralds to all the cities. 53 [bidding them to call out his troops and to proclaim:] "Behold, these [children of Israel] are but a contemptible band; 54 and indeed they are enraging us; 55 we are a large and watchful force." 56 So We turned them out of gardens and springs, 57 Treasures, and every kind of honourable position; 58 even so, and We bequeathed them upon the Children of Israel. 59 Then they pursued them at sunrise. 60 and as soon as the two hosts came in sight of one another, the followers of Moses exclaimed: "Behold, we shall certainly be overtaken [and defeated]!" 61 'No, indeed' he replied, 'my Lord is with me and He will guide me' 62 Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and each part was as a mountain vast. 63 And there We brought the others on, 64 and We saved Moses and those who were with him together, 65 then We drowned the others. 66 Indeed in this is surely a sign, and most of them were not Muslims. 67 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 68
