Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" 142 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 In gardens and fountains, 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 Will you still hew your dwellings in the mountains? 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 Salih said: "This is a she-camel. There is a day set for her to drink and there is a day set for you to drink. 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 159
