The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
