The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 arise and give warning! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 it scorches the skin; 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
