Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
