The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a Great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
