Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
