The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And accepts the best, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who belied and turned away, 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
