۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone." 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 We admitted him to Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
