The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
