The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel – so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
