The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who belied and turned away, 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
