The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
