The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and his morning brightness 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 Then they denied him and they killed it. So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin, and made them equal in destruction (i.e. all grades of people, rich and poor, strong and weak, etc.)! 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
